NFC Tag Setup
NFC tags give you the best ScanBeacon experience — just tap your phone to log a habit instantly. No opening apps, no scanning cameras. One tap and you're done.
What you'll need
NFC tag stickers
We recommend NTAG215 stickers — they work great and cost about 25–30 cents each. Available in black or white.

A free app for programming NFC tags. Available on both iOS and Android.
How to program your tag
After creating a tag in ScanBeacon, you'll see a tag URL on the setup screen. Here's how to write it to your NFC sticker:
Copy your tag URL
On the tag detail page, open Tag Setup and copy the URL from the NFC section.
Open NFC Tools
Launch the NFC Tools app on your phone and tap the "Write" tab.
Add a URL record
Tap "Add a record" then select "URL/URI". Paste the ScanBeacon tag URL you copied.
Write to tag
Tap "Write" and hold your phone to the NFC sticker. You'll feel a vibration or see a confirmation when it's written.
Stick it somewhere
Peel off the backing and place the sticker where you want to scan — next to your vitamins, on the bathroom mirror, by the dog leash, wherever makes sense.
Don't want to set them up yourself?
No problem — we'll program and mail you a handful of NFC tags to get started, free for beta testers. Just let us know where to send them.

We're building the ability to program NFC tags directly from ScanBeacon — no separate app needed. For now, NFC Tools gets the job done.
